Getting Married at Skipton CastleIn 1536 the 1st Earl of Cumberland's son Henry Clifford married Eleanor Brandon niece of Henry VIII, in the magnificent long gallery with Octagon Tower which had been specially built in a matter of months, to mark the alliance of the House of Clifford with that of the House of Tudor. The last recorded marriage to take place within the Castle's ancient chapel before its conversion into stables was in 1635 between Elizabeth de Clifford and Richard Lord Dungarvan.
